blocking liberally
not a lot of things get under my skin. i have my views on things but i can try to understand or at least tolerate most things that i disagree with.
though recently when browsing the bearblog discover feed i came across some really problematic posts. i don't find it productive to name these since giving them any attention —positive or negative— will benefit them. but after my encounter i started to get the "blocking liberally" mindset.
i don't think anything i can do can possibly change their mind thus giving them any amount of my attention is a waste. also these viewpoints are not unique, they are just a parroting of the same xenophobic ideas. there is nothing to be gained from reading them perspective-wise. plus i don't owe it to read the perspective of someone who calls my culture inferior, resistant to change and depicts it as something to be defended from.
i'd like for these kinds of posts to at least be hidden from the discover but blocking offensive blogs and moving on seems to be the best path forward for me at the moment.
